This mixed-method study was intended to determine ways to support and
advance Beta Upsilon Chapter of DKG. The close alignment of the Purposes of
DKG and the actions of presidents in the subject chapter was evident. Drawing upon
the perceived successes and challenges of each living president, researchers were
able to gain valuable insight into strengths and needs of the chapter.
It is important to note that findings from this study resulted in the publication of
a handbook for Beta Upsilon Chapter that was intended to support and enhance the
future of that chapter. The Leadership Legacy of Beta Upsilon Presidents 1970–2021
was developed to achieve growth and maintain sustainability of one chapter. This
research and summary was recognized with an award of Excellence by the North
Carolina Society of Historians on Sunday, November 14, 2021, for the preservation
and perpetuation of North Carolina history.
A continued focus upon the themes and terms identified in this study will support
members and strengthen the chapter as Beta Upsilon moves forward. Findings may
also offer insight to other chapters nationally and internationally.
