done so, to complete your registration for the International Convention, July 9-13, 2024, in National Harbor
Maryland! It will be a magnificent week of personal and professional opportunities, the business of voting on
proposed amendments, and, of course, the celebration of installing new officers. I promise you it will be a
wonderful occasion to immerse yourself fully in all the excitement and joy of attending a DKG event. You also
want to register for the DKGIEF fundraising event on Wednesday evening. There is limited space, so sign up
early.
I am looking forward to our Town Hall meetings to discuss the proposed amendments. It is our responsibility
as members to review them thoroughly and ask questions of clarification and understanding so that we are
prepared to vote in July. It is my goal to complete all proposed amendments so that we can do our business
effectively and efficiently moving forward. When proposed amendments fall to the floor, they often inhibit the
ability to do business in the future. Please join in our conversations over the next few months and share your
ideas and concerns.
Total transparency in all situations, whenever appropriate, is a goal of this biennium. Some say that DKG is
the best kept secret; however, our business and purposes should not be a secret. So, you see, just like water, air,
glass, and saran wrap, we can now include DKG in the list of all things transparent.
We are talking, and we are listening. I welcome your
voice in all that we do. Members matter, you matter, we
matter.
From the Desk of the Director
n the last issue, I wrote to you about communication and the critical links in the DKG
I“chain of communication.” And you are a critical link in that chain! I explained that
much of the information from the international level is sent out to state organization
presidents, who must then pass it along to chapter presidents and members. Although
state organization and chapter presidents accept responsibility for their part in the chain,
I encouraged all members to take responsibility for asking for the information or seeking
it out if you have not received it through our chain of communication. As a member, you
Nita R. Scott, CAE are a steward of our organization and play a critical role in sustaining DKG for the future.
Executive Director So, in what other ways can you gather the information you need as a member of DKG?
Although not an inclusive list, here are a few ways communication flows between members and international
leaders and Society Headquarters staff:
• The DKG Website.
• DKG Publications (DKG News, Collegial Exchange, Journal, and more).
• The DKG official corporate social media accounts, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and others.
• Email.
• Phone.
• Chat (via the DKG Website).
• International committee blogs (most easily accessed via the DKG Website).
• Town Halls and member-focus-group Zoom sessions. See DIR p. 6
