13. Can you tell me a bit more about the Teaching as a Profession program? Does that apply to
CTE only or to other disciplines?
14. For the Early College High through JSCC, will that be cost-free to students? If so, is JSCC
waiving tuition or has the state increased the dual-enrollment grant? If not, will students have
to pay tuition that exceeds the dual-enrollment grant? I am not sure how many courses that
covers now, but it used to cut into their TN Hope Scholarship if they exceeded a set number of
courses.
15. You mentioned increased use of TN Promise. Is that because of increased dual-enrollment
courses or the Early College High? Have they changed how/when TNP can be used? Or do
you see Blue Oval City and other local job opportunities as a more visible/tangible goal for
certain students trying to figure out what to do after high school so that they use TNP for a
TCAT course or even community college/university degree(s)?
16. Do you feel that the high school has the most urgent need to prepare for Blue Oval vs. the
lower grades?
17. I have heard a couple of other systems mention soft skills as the main thing Ford needs
in employees. Have you heard this? If so, how do you think schools can teach that? And can
that be taught in the high schools, or will that need to come from the lowest grades up?
