Non-dues Revenue
Working for Members:
Two Avenues of Savings
The International Non-dues Revenue Committee
explores, reviews, and recommends possible sources of
revenue other than dues to the Society's administrative
board. State organizations and chapters are encouraged
to participate in non-dues revenue fundraisers such
as auctions, drawings, sales, activities, events, and
vendors and/or to solicit sponsors for conventions.
These strategies help with alternative financing for
Society work and can stabilize costs for members.
Checking blogs on the dkg.org website and
reading articles in the DKG News and the Collegial
Exchange will help increase awareness of non-
dues revenue. Attending international conferences
and participating in convention workshops are also
ways to learn more about alternative funding.
Apart from finding such funding, however, the
International Non-dues Revenue Committee also
works to save members money by securing discounts
and special benefits. For example, they work in
cooperation with insurance representatives to get the
best benefits for members. Discounts are currently
available to members from AmazonSmile, TruHearing,
Capella University, and Avis Car Rental.
Working with Go Ahead Tours,
the committee helps provide travel
experiences for members to tour with
other DKG members. Past tours have
included England, Scotland, and Ireland
in 2016; Spain and Portugal in 2017;
Fall Foliage in 2017; Alaska Cruise
in 2018; Iceland in 2019; Santa Fe in 2019; Costa Rica in
2020; and New Orleans to Tennessee in 2022. Future tours
include Finland in July 2023 and Washington, DC, in 2024.
The International Non-dues Revenue Committee relies on
members to provide names of businesses to be investigated as
possible sources of additional benefits for all members. Think
of the possibilities and contact committee members with
names of businesses that might be valuable to DKG members.
