Problem of practice: How do we help chapters maintain or strengthen their current membership to avoid
        dissolution of the chapter?
        Root causes:
            1) Poor retention of current members.
            2) Lack of new members at all stages.
            3) Stagnant leadership growth.
Theory of action: If we supply strategic support to struggling chapters, then we will strengthen membership
and decrease future dissolutions of chapters.
        Action steps:
            • State leadership team identifies struggling chapters using membership data and the International
               Healthy Chapter Green Flag Checklist.
            • Membership committee develops strategic supports for membership committee to implement with
               struggling chapters.
            • State organization past presidents and membership committee implement training plan of strategic
supports to move chapters toward increased green flags membership.
            • Membership committee and chapter presidents review growth of green flag checklist after one year
(align with Membership Committee Action Plan [CAP] goals).

Problem of practice: There is a lack of leadership at both chapter and state organization levels.
        Root causes:
            1) Declining applications for leadership.
            2) Lack of knowledge of position responsiblities.
            3) Lack of communication.
Theory of action: If we better convey the importance of leadership in DKG, then we will see an increase
        of interest in leadership positions.
        Action steps:
            • Leadership team conducts a meeting for interested members before elections to explain
               responsibilities of elected positions.
            • State organization committee chairs and officers meet with chapter counterparts a minimum of
               once a year.
            • State officers meet with chapter counterparts a minimum of once a year.

Problem of practice: During activities organized by chapters or the state organization, members don’t
        participate actively.
        Root causes:
            1) Not knowing DKG Purposes.
            2) Misinformation on the DKG organizational culture.
            3) Not following up with members to help them organize several responsibilities.
Theory of action: If we stand out the DKG Purposes through clear and fluid communication, promoting
feedback, participation, and the expression of personal ideas by organizing training workshops, bulletins,
social media, then we will be promoting the DKG organizational culture.
