Rationale: The addition of this membership category will allow the Society to benefit from the experience and expertise of long-
time members. It will be an opportunity to recognize their contributions at chapter, state, and international levels. Fiscal Impact:
Monetary resources would be reduced by waiving dues for Emerita members, but currently many women qualified for this status
allow their membership to lapse by no longer paying their dues. In actuality, this would allow the Society to retain the expertise of
long-time members who otherwise would end their affiliation. Emerita members could be reported to International for recordkeep-
ing purposes by chapter treasurers. As all communications are electronic, postage and other expenses associated with non-paying
members would not be a factor. (Note: In consultation with the Finance Committee, Finance Director Peggy Jonas estimates an
international fiscal impact of up to $1,280,000.) Submitted by: Lois Todd Meyer, Alpha Theta Chapter, Nebraska. Administrative
Board Recommendation: not to adopt.
