        UPDATE: JAPAN

ast October, Japan State Organization held the biggest and most memorable event since its establishment
Lin 2012. DKG has an impressive history of almost 100 years, so 10 years may seem like a short time to other
state organizations with longer histories. But for us, it was a long way to go and a big milestone to celebrate.

A lot of members were involved in constructing the commemorative events. This encouraged the cooperation
of many members, young and old, including both busy current teachers and retired ones. Together, these
members worked hard to make the 10th-anniversary project successful.
The main theme of our anniversary celebration was “Connection and Future.” We had sent out a questionnaire
beforehand and asked all the members the following questions:
              • What do you want to do and who do you want to be as a DKG member?
              • What can you contribute to other members of the Society, and what would you like to share with them?
We received various answers and messages from our members, all of which were very sincere and contained
positive feedback. The messages we received were made into PowerPoint slides with photographic portraits of

each member and presented at the celebration ceremony. These messages will surely become treasures to the
        future of Japan State Organization.
Honorably, our 2022–2024 International President, Dr. Debbie LeBlanc, was kind enough to participate in
the ceremony. Unless we attend international conferences or conventions, we have no opportunity to meet
the people from Headquarters. Being able to meet with and listen to our international president in person was
an excellent opportunity for each of us. Many of the members had a feeling of being closer to the mother
        organization itself.

Last but not least, it was so precious to see many sisters and supporters from Hawaii and the mainland United
States attend our celebration both in person and via Zoom. We are incredibly thankful for your participation!
Valuing friends and human connections is the key to the bright future of DKG, as well as that of the whole
globe. Now, we in Japan State Organization have begun walking toward a new stage of a long journey.
