sessions. On a more fun note, I have been asked about the appropriate dress for Saturday evening’s celebration.
It will not be a formal sit-down dinner but rather a fun celebration of all your hard work this biennium! Please
pack your dancing shoes and dress!
Earlier, I spoke of new beginnings and new growth. Along with that comes a renewed sense of optimism
and fresh ideas. In this vein, I am pleased to introduce Sy Franco Stern as our new Membership Director. Sy is
dedicated to growing our membership base, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to the team. You can read more
about Sy in this edition of the NEWS (p. 13).
As you know, Nita Scott, Society Executive Director, recently announced her retirement, which will occur in
August 2024. Applications for the position were accepted and reviewed by the Performance Appraisal Team
(PAT), which included Becky Sadowski, chair; Beverly Hall Maughan, DKG Second Vice-President; Nita Scott,
Executive Director; and me. First-round interviews were held
mid-March, and finalist(s) were selected. A second round of
interviewing was conducted in person with the Administrative
Board. At the time of this submission, the candidate has yet to
be chosen. The Board hopes that this individual will begin in
early May and shadow Nita for several months. The extensive
onboarding process is essential to the success of the new
executive director. This process will focus on understanding
the many critical aspects of the job, including managing
staff, working with directors, planning and implementing an
international convention, preparing for the See PRES p.4
