                                                                                               By Betty R. Oswald

            Many have mused on the power of music in our world. Here are a few of the many thoughts expressed
            about music over the years:
              • “Music is the universal language of mankind.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
              • “[Music is] something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common.”
               Sarah Dessen
              • “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” Victor Hugo
              • “Life seems to go on without effort when I am filled with music.” George Eliot
              • “For the common things of every day,
                God gave men speech in a common way,
                For the deeper things men think and feel,
                God gave the poets words to reveal;
                For the heights and depths no words can reach,
                God gave men music – the soul’s own speech.” Anonymous
