DKG Finland and Estonia Experience
Following the international conference in Tampere
in 2023, members will have the opportunity to see
more of the country. The offer is the option of a 7-day
tour with an excursion to Tallinn, Estonia, or a 10-
day tour adding 3 nights in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The tour group will begin traveling from Tampere to
Helsinki right after the conference. In the evening, there
will be a welcome dinner with the group. The next morning,
after breakfast, the group will enjoy a sightseeing tour of
Helsinki Cathedral Helsinki and pass through Senate Square to see the cathedral
of Helsinki, reminiscent of a Greek temple. If the group is

lucky, a market in front of the city hall will also be available.
Really fantastic is the Temppeliaukio Church, which is
carved into a rocky hillside. Natural light enters through the
skylight that surrounds a center copper dome. The church
has excellent acoustics and thus is also used as a concert
hall. The church organ consists of 43 stops and 3001 pipes.
Another famous attraction is the Sibelius monument in
the eponymous Sibelius Park. The monument was created by
the Finnish artist Eila Hiltunen and is titled “Passio Musicae.”
The design looks like stylized organ pipes, although the
Temppeliaukio Church composer Sibelius composed only a little organ music.
In the afternoon the group will go by ferry to

Center. This is one of the world’s
largest sea fortresses, and it spans
across a series of eight small
islands. Afterward, the ferry will
take the group back to Helsinki.
The next day will be spent in
the medieval city of Poovo. A local
guide will show the Old City with its
cobblestone streets, the Old Bridge,
and its 15th-century cathedral. Free
time to explore will be available
