Connections + Collaboration =
Possibilities
By Becky Sadowski, 2020-2022 International President
Have you ever noticed that being in the midst of
people busy doing something they enjoy often
creates a feeling of excitement and possibility?
This biennium, I have had so many
opportunities to see members at every level of
DKG experience a mutual feeling of excitement
and possibility. As members have shared their
stories with me through emails, social media
posts, conversations, meetings, and photos, I
have found a common thread: connections and
collaboration that turn possibilities to reality.
Our 2020–2022 Regional Directors have initiated
frequent Zoom sessions during which state organization
presidents in their respective regions have enjoyed
connecting with each other to ask questions, share ideas,
and, in some cases, work together to plan programs or
projects. During these Zoom events, members of international
committees occasionally have presented committee news or
sought feedback on specific topics. An added benefit of these
sessions is the connection these Society leaders have created.
A goal of each international committee has been finding ways to
connect with other standing committees as they identified possible
opportunities for collaboration. Some of you may have seen
the results of this kind of connection in the breakout
sessions presented by the membership and expansion
committees in Portland and San Antonio during
the 2021 international conferences.
Chapters across our organization continue
to have joint meetings with other chapters.
These combined events usually feature
a speaker and often provide time for
participants to engage in discussion
and fellowship. What a great
opportunity to be informed and
interact with new DKG friends!
