                               TECH CORNER: VOTING AT CONVENTION

              t this summer’s 2024 International
        AConvention in National Harbor, Maryland
(D.C. area), attendees will have the chance
to make new friends, attend professional
        development sessions, and conduct important
Society business. Part of this business includes
voting on proposed amendments to the DKG
        Society Constitution and International Standing
Rules. Voting takes place in person using

        remote voting devices. Convention attendees
will receive their remote voting devices at
        registration.
The voting device contains several buttons (see photo); however, only two keys apply to convention attendees:
1/A and 2/B. A “null” sign will appear if an attendee attempts to use any other buttons or to vote outside of the
designated voting period. Designated voting periods will be announced by the international president during the
voting sessions. There is a “voting window” of 30 seconds, so it is imperative

that a voter select her desired option within this time frame. Options are:
                                            1/A – Yes, I approve.
                                            2/B – No, I do not approve.
If you choose to abstain, do not make a selection.
The remote voting device allows the international president to know the
results of the vote immediately. Official, complete tallies will appear on the
main convention room screen as soon as the voting window is over. These
devices help encourage efficient voting at convention. Convention staff will
also be available on site to assist with the use of the voting devices, and these

directions will be available in the 2024 convention program.

Your Responsibilities: The barcode number on each device will be recorded
along with the attendee’s name, thus assigning each attendee with
responsibility for her “clicker.” At the final voting session, each attendee must turn in her device. If an attendee
chooses to leave the convention before voting is completed, she must return her device to the designated area
at registration. If an attendee leaves without returning her device, Society headquarters will bill her accordingly.
