The DKG Visionary Network: Connecting

with Members While Increasing Your

Knowledge

he DKG Visionary Network launched January 2025 with seven virtual, interest-based groups open exclusively
Tto DKG members. The DKG Visionary Network is one response to specific findings of the Avenue M report.
Visionary Network groups are organized and facilitated by a DKG member. The first groups of this new initiative

are currently meeting. Current Visionary Network groups include: Challenges in Special Education, Conversational
Spanish, Family Caregivers, Handling Change Along Life’s Journey, Simple Crafts, The Art of Zentangle, and
Wellness for Leaders.
Initially, joining a Visionary Network group may
seem like just another thing to add to the already
busy life of a DKG member. However, recently the
Visionary Network committee surveyed current
participants and facilitators. Though groups only
started meeting in January, the responses were

overwhelmingly affirming.
Responses indicate that participants of the
first DKG Visionary Network Groups have already
increased their knowledge of the group’s respective
topics. Andrea Rutledge of Pennsylvania, a
participant in the Challenges in Special Education
group, said:

“As a doctoral student with a focus in literacy,
I will benefit from learning from others
with expertise and advanced degrees that
are tangent to my research interests. DKG
members, locally and internationally, serve
as role models and provide encouragement
that continues to inspire me.” See VIS p. 13
