Educational Excellence: Key
International Initiatives
ducational Excellence is DKG’s term for the
Eprograms and projects essential for recruiting,
retaining, and engaging members. Chapters design
these initiatives to kindle personal and professional
growth — the very components of the Society’s
mission. Many members join DKG to participate
in philanthropic projects as they aspire to improve
their local and state communities. These initiatives
encapsulate our Society’s vision as leading women
educators impacting education worldwide.
DKG International Educational Excellence
Committee (EEC) encourages chapters to support the
following International initiatives:
• Supporting Early-Career Educators (SEE): This initiative encourages chapters to be creative in support
of early-career educators with a variety of strategies, such as providing supportive phone calls and
visits, assisting in the classroom, mentoring, and offering advice on classroom management and family-
teacher relations.
• The GIRLS Fund: Partnered with UNICEF USA since 1997, DKG is currently supporting educational access
for girls in Africa through UNICEF’s Girls Initiative to Revitalize Learning and Success (GIRLS). More
information on the GIRLS Fund, including a video that can be shown at chapter meetings, is available at
DKG.org > About > Key Initiatives.
The International EEC recently surveyed state Educational Excellence Chairs, and the response was clear:
they want more resources to share with chapter leaders and members. In response, the International EEC
is dedicated to raising awareness of the outstanding programs and projects led by DKG chapters and state
organizations.
To help showcase the wide range of impactful programs and philanthropic efforts, the International EEC
has launched the Program and Project Spotlight. The committee requires the help of members to highlight
successful projects from chapters and state organizations around the world. Members and local leaders are
encouraged to submit their most successful chapter programs and/or projects using the EEC Program and
Project Submission Form. By sharing successful initiatives, members will inspire other chapters and state
organizations to replicate these ideas.
For questions about programs and projects, members can reach the Educational Excellence Committee by
emailing impact@dkg.org.
