TECH CORNER: MEMBER RECOGNITION
here are various ways for DKG members to be recognized across all levels of the Society, especially across
Tthe DKG website and via DKG’s social media. On DKG.org, members are highlighted for their achievements
on the Recognitions page, which can be found under About > Recognition. There are a few different types of
recognition initiatives that members should know about, including:
Member Spotlight
The Member Spotlight, an initiative led by the Membership & Expansion
Committee, recognizes women who are making an impact in their chapters, schools,
communities, or on a global scale. Members may nominate fellow DKG women who
they believe are worthy of this recognition. To nominate a fellow DKG member, fill
out the form on DKG.org > Apply/Submit > Member Spotlight Nomination.
Project (Impact) Spotlight
Organized by the Educational Excellence Committee, the Project Spotlight highlights chapters and state
organizations who are facilitating noteworthy projects. Examples of projects that have been highlighted include
time capsules to be opened at DKG’s Centennial Celebration, blankets made alongside Girl Scouts, various literacy
projects happening across the globe, and more. DKG members may nominate a chapter or state organization for
their noteworthy work by visiting DKG.org > Apply/Submit > EEC – Impact Spotlight.
International Achievement Award
The International Achievement Award is the Society’s highest honor, presented each year to one outstanding
member whose dedication and service to DKG exemplify true excellence. This prestigious recognition celebrates
a member who has gone above and beyond in her contributions, leadership, and impact within the Society.
Members are encouraged to nominate those whose distinguished achievements and unwavering commitment
to DKG make them truly deserving of this honor at DKG.org > Apply/Submit > Achievement Award Nomination
(note: the form is only available seasonally). Winner of the International Achievement Award is announced each
year at DKG’s International Conference or Convention.
Educators Book Award
The Educators Book Award honors author(s) whose book(s) is considered impactful
for educators or for readers interested in education. Educators Book Award winners are
announced each year in the early summer after careful consideration by the Educators
Book Award Committee. To view a list of titles, head to DKG.org > Recognition > Educators
Book Award.
Scholarship Recipients
DKG awards thousands of dollars each year to members pursuing graduate
or doctoral degrees. Since 1940, $5.6 million has been awarded to over 1,100
members. Scholarship recipients are highlighted each year on the DKG website
and in the DKG NEWS. Members interested in applying for a DKG scholarship
may visit DKG.org > About > Recognition > Scholarships Recipients.
