International Speakers Fund
ISF Opportunities and Leadership
Connections
In supporting one of the International Speakers Fund Committee’s goals—“Create new ISF
opportunities and leadership connections for DKG members in 2021 and 2022”—committee
member and Area Representative – Latin America, Grace Rodriguez-Mesa (Panama), interviewed
Claudia Estrada (Guatemala), a member of the International Nominations Committee (2020–
2022) and previous ISF speaker.
I do not remember when I met Claudia for the first time, but the many times
we have exchanged ideas or I have asked her for clarity on a concern regarding
Delta Kappa Gamma, she has been clear and concise. Her almost 25 years of
DKG membership have helped her grow within the organization not only in
her native Guatemala as chapter
president, secretary, treasurer, and
state organization president and vice
president but also at the international
level as expansion committee chair,
international credentials committee
chair, international leadership committee
member, international nominations
committee member, Area Representative
– Latin America, and International
Speakers Fund (ISF) speaker.
In 2007, Claudia participated
as an ISF speaker in San Salvador,
El Salvador, and again at the Latin-
American Conference where she
presented a math workshop. In 2010,
at the state organization conference in
Belfast, Maine, she presented a “Digital
Citizenship” workshop and a luncheon
speech entitled Rebuild, Reboot, and
Refresh. When I asked her to elaborate
on the experience, Claudia reminisced
on the friendship she started with the
Maine State President and how they
exchanged visits. She also mentioned DKG Love © Mixed
women whom she recognized as being her DKG influencers: Regina de Cordon, Media by Linda
Nancy Noll, Karen Duke, Elizabeth Tanner, Nita Scott, Beverly Helms, Barbara Dilger, CA; 2021 DKG
Fine Arts Gallery
Baethe, Maria Elena Alcala, Mercedes Umana, and Jeannette Zuniga.
