has been published in the March/April DKG NEWS and on the international
website. The International Constitution Committee and Administrative Board
are also taking steps to help members deal with the large number of PAs:
PAs are grouped and bundled according to their content. For example,
any amendment addressing the work of a committee is grouped with other
amendments dealing with committee work, and so forth. There are nine
groups of PAs. Bundled PAs are those of similar content. For example, all PAs
addressing Arts and Humanities are within one bundle. Within a bundle, PAs
have been put in an order that reflects their impact on other PAs. For example,
a PA to add the new named scholarship to the list of scholarships available
to members will be considered before the PA moving that list to GAPP.
PAs have also been labeled as consent or floor. Consent PAs are those deemed
noncontroversial—such as allowing co-presidents at the chapter level. Floor PAs are
those that may generate conversation—such as merging the work of the Golden Gift
Committee with that of the Leadership Development Committee. When the PAs are
presented, a consent amendment can be moved to a floor amendment if a member calls
for that to be done. All PAs remaining as consent will be voted on as a group and will be
adopted or not adopted as a group. Floor amendments will then be presented for debate.

                      Be Informed! Be Ready!

Members will have many opportunities to learn about the PAs beyond their publication
in the DKG NEWS and on the international website and the overview presented here.
International representatives to state organization conventions will be ready to discuss and
explain the PAs and their ramifications. Administrative Board members will be eager to
respond to emailed questions, and members of international committees that have made
proposals may publish thoughts in the DKG blogs and/or respond directly to members’
questions. During the 2022 convention itself, the International Constitution Committee
will conduct a Q & A regarding PAs from 4:00–5:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, July
                        13. The session will be designed to clarify each member’s understanding of any PA
to be voted on later in the week. This session will NOT be to debate their validity or
worth as debate on PAs will take place during the business part of the convention.
The International Constitution Committee has the responsibility to receive PAs to
the Society’s governing documents, review the proposals for clarity, and present them to
the convention for vote. The committee’s responsibility does not include recommending
that PAs be adopted or not adopted or debating the proposals. Recommending to adopt
or not to adopt is the responsibility of the administrative board. But most importantly,
debating PAs and voting to adopt or not to adopt belongs to the convention body.
Be informed! Be ready! As a member, ultimately YOU
will write the story of the DKG Constitution in 2022!
