DKG-DCSO Speaker’s Directory:
A Special Resource
By Audrienne Roberts Womack
The District of Columbia State Organization’s inaugural edition of its DCSO Speaker’s Directory was
unveiled during the first DCSO Executive Meeting on Saturday, August 14, 2021. This resourceful
directory is useful in identifying active members from each chapter (Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Nu Zeta)
who have expertise, training, and talent in established areas of ability and competence. The DCSO
Speaker’s Directory is also used to recognize, utilize, and celebrate members within DCSO to whom
others can be referred when needed and used in making personal and professional connections. This
directory has been an effective way to observe and highlight the incredible capability within our
organization that may sometimes go undiscovered:
The directory is coordinated with the Society’s Mission statement: “The Delta Kappa Gamma
Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence
in education.” We wanted to make this our primary focus and purpose for creating the directory.
Development of professional and personal growth is what our members gain when connecting with
the directory, which is also aligned with our 2021–2023 DCSO Strategic Goals. Our directory has
uniquely created a system by which members can engage with each other more and get to know each
other better—within and across chapters. It has
genuinely promoted the accessibility of new
methods and new ideas. Most importantly, the
DCSO Speaker’s Directory has competently The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International
increased the leadership development
opportunities among all our members.
Getting Started
Before we began recruiting participants,
state organization leaders shared our vision for
the directory, how it aligned with our DCSO
Strategic Action Plan, and how we intended to
use it. From there, we provided directions for District of Columbia State Organization
submissions, which included the use of a free 2021 - 2022
“Speaker One Sheet” template (Snippe, 2010)
that we modified after a Google search. From Speaker’s Directory
the many samples we found on the Internet, we Kimberly Springle, President
selected one that was uncomplicated and easy Patricia Neal, Immediate Past President
to use. A “Speaker One Sheet” is similar to a
resume that a presenter can use to present his or “Leading Women Educators Impacting
her speaking or training expertise. The members Education Worldwide"
were instructed to copy and paste the template www.dkg.org
into a blank document and then proceed to fill it
in, preferably using a 12pt–14pt font. If copying
and pasting provided too many steps for some The cover of the DCSO Speaker’s Directory
members, organizers encouraged them to (2021–2022)
