DKGIEF: Working to Educate the
World
The DKG International Educators Foundation (DKGIEF) Board of Directors serves both members and
non-members by providing funding for scholarships, speakers, leadership training, educational projects,
and professional development. This 12-member board makes decisions based on sound business judgment
and consistently acts in the best interest of the Foundation and DKG members. The DKGIEF board
operates as a working board, focusing on the overarching goals of the organization while also taking on
management and technical tasks to ensure effective implementation.
Every DKGIEF director has the opportunity to help the Foundation to sustain its mission, expand its
outreach, and facilitate partnerships with donors and award recipients. The board members are a vital link
between the mission to “educate the world” and the educators we touch.
Who’s On the Board?
Class A Directors: Elected by the DKG Executive Board
Dr. Margie Nowak, 2022–2028 DKGIEF director, spent her 39-year career as a primary grades
teacher, college instructor, and math coach. Nowak joined Nebraska State Organization in 1984, has served
in all officer positions, and currently is the state organization treasurer. At the international level, Nowak
served on the world fellowship, finance, and nominations committees. Elected as chair of the 2024–2026
DKGIEF Board of Directors, she shared her vision for her work on the board: “My goal is to work with
the DKGIEF directors and their committees toward our common goal of moving the Foundation forward.”
Sandi Causey, 2020–2026 DKGIEF director, was a Grade 6 classroom teacher and special education
resource teacher before serving as an elementary principal. Inducted into Texas State Organization
(TSO) in 1978, Causey was a founding director of the TSO Educational Foundation and was vice
president of finance and administration. She was chair of the TSO and the DKG finance committees.
A member of the DKG Supporting Corporation, Causey was elected to the DKGIEF board of directors
in 2020 and served as the 2022–2024 DKGIEF board chair and the 2024–2026 vice chair. She shared
the following about her service on the board: “Celebrating the generosity of DKGIEF donors, being a
good steward of their contributions, and promoting the mission of the Foundation to educate the world
has been a privilege and rewarding beyond my expectations when I joined the board of directors.”
