DKGIEF
After research, discussion, and action, it was determined that a new installation
would be commissioned by the DKGIEF, taking the “vines” and “leaves” of
the wall and mounting them into four plexi-acrylic “panes” (like glass, but less
fragile!). The DKGIEF paid for the new installation, and the DKG Society's 2020–
2022 Administrative Board agreed to hang two of the four panes at the new, leased
headquarters office in North Austin. The other two panes will remain in storage,
and each new donor will continue to
be recognized with a leaf, as was the
previous commitment.
Although the new artwork is not
fragile, it is—as one might imagine—
heavy! Thus, the panes will be installed
at headquarters in its new home, but
they are also able to be moved if
necessary, i.e., should the Society lease
or build new space. In addition, if there
were a special occasion (such as the
Society’s 100th birthday in 2029, for
example), monies could be set aside so
that the panes could be transported to a
special venue.
When donors make a commitment
of their dollars to a cause they care
about, recipients are well advised to
recognize and respect the donation and
the relationship that led to the donation.
As mentioned previously, sometimes a
simple thank you or an eager smile is all
it takes. The promise of thanks, though,
is an important part of respecting
donors and letting them know that
the organization benefiting from their
generosity is appreciative. By thinking
creatively, both the Board of Directors
of the DKGIEF and the Society’s
2020–2022 Administrative Board found
a way, through the new art installation
displaying the “Wall” of Roses, to
ensure our ongoing commitment—and
THANKS—to the donors we so very
much appreciate!
