World Fellowship

            World Fellowship Students Have a

            Ripple Effect Around the World

Since its inception in 1958-1960, the World Fellowship Program has awarded

more than $4,225,502.75 (amount as of June 30, 2022) to women from around
the world. In 2022, the program awarded $69,000 to 26 women; 15 were first-time
recipients and 11 received extensions that are given to qualifying recipients for

a second year of study. The recipients came from 23 different countries and are
studying diverse subjects such as education policy and analysis and integrated
            cell biology.

                                            Recipients Making a Difference

DKG World Fellowship recipients have a major impact on the world. These women return to their
home countries and give back to society. What they learn may only touch one life initially, but that
life will ultimately touch many. Annie Webb Blanton knew the value of the education of women and
its impact in improving society. Its importance is reflected in one of the Society’s seven Purposes—
Purpose 5: To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and
to grant fellowships to non-member women educators. As several examples here illustrate, education
empowers women, and the education of women improves the lives of children and society.

                                                     • One young recipient of a World Fellowship stipend plans to
return to Indonesia and help build learning centers to provide
free education for underserved children. She also plans to
lecture at a university in her province, thereby enlightening
others with the information she learns from her education
received with the assistance of her World Fellowship grant.

                                                     • Once a recipient from Nigeria completes her PhD
in astronomy/astrophysics, she plans to remain at the
university she is attending in Canada and apply for a job as
a postdoctoral researcher. She would then like to pursue a
position with the university so she can expand her knowledge
base. Later, she will return to Nigeria and use her research
and knowledge to help those in her country.

learned about public health and nutrition. She wishes to
empower the youth and young adults with the knowledge she
